The 2026 Combat HD LTD is a very good sail for Canterbury conditions, especially when sailing in NW & SW winds off the beach, or at the lakes.
How it rates it for Canterbury
The Combat is essentially a powerful, controllable 4-batten wave sail. Canterbury's wind can be gusty and changeable, so the combination of low-end power + excellent upper-end control is valuable.

Why I'd choose the HD
For Canterbury, I'd actually favour Combat HD over the regular Combat.
The HD construction and X-Ply window make a lot of sense if you're sailing places such as:
- Christchurch Estuary
- New Brighton
- Lyttelton Harbour
- Canterbury's exposed coastal spots
- Lake sailing,
- Lake Clearwater
- Lake Coleridge.
You're getting a sail that can tolerate being used hard while still retaining relatively low weight.
The Power HD material in the foot and clew is also useful in gusty conditions because those are high-load areas.
Combat vs Duotone Super Hero
If you're deciding between the Combat and something like the Duotone Super Hero, the distinction is quite interesting:
